The 2nd Aklat Sining: A Pinoy Books and Art Expo — Triumphing Against All Odds (Again!)
On November 29, 2025, Filipino stories, voices, and creative visions once again took center stage at the Eastwood Mall Atrium as Aklat Sining: A Pinoy Books and Art Expo returned for its second run. Organized by Pinoy Indie Authors (PIA), the one-day event gathered local authors, artists, creatives, and readers in a vibrant celebration of literature, art, and community.
Building on the momentum of its first successful edition, the 2nd Aklat Sining proved that when passion, purpose, and perseverance come together, something truly meaningful can be created—again.
A Growing Creative Movement Recognized by the Public
Following the success of the inaugural expo earlier this year, Aklat Sining has continued to gain attention from readers, creatives, and cultural observers alike. Online news features and social media coverage highlighted the event as a growing platform that brings together Filipino indie authors and artists in an accessible, public space—one that welcomes discovery, dialogue, and creative exchange.
More than a showcase, Aklat Sining has become a milestone event for the local indie community—demonstrating how consistent effort and collaboration can cultivate visibility and appreciation for Filipino-made books and art.
A Platform for Filipino Stories and Creativity
The 2nd Aklat Sining featured a rich and engaging lineup of activities designed to celebrate and support independent creativity:
* Back-to-back book launches
* Children’s Book Reading
* Book Donation Drive
* Author meet-and-greets and book signings
* Art and merchandise booths
* Live talks and panel discussions on self-publishing and storytelling
* Networking opportunities for authors, artists, and readers
Each corner of the Atrium buzzed with conversation—about stories, creative processes, and shared experiences. Readers discovered new voices, while creators found affirmation in seeing their work appreciated firsthand.
According to PIA founder Mayumi Cruz, the heart of Aklat Sining remains unchanged:
“We wanted to create an accessible space where Filipino indie authors and artists could showcase their work and be seen, heard, and supported. In essence, we Filipino indie authors and artists are striking our own path, not merely waiting to be discovered but actively pursuing ways to expose our craft to more people.”
That vision resonated throughout the event, as creators and readers connected not just through books and art—but through genuine human interaction.
Back-to-Back Book Launches: Celebrating Collective Storytelling
One of the highlights of the 2nd Aklat Sining was the launch of two Pinoy Indie Authors collaborative books, celebrating the power of collective creativity:
Light, Shadows, and Other Truths: The 2nd Pinoy Indie Authors Poetry Collaboration
Each book in this collection is a world shaped by memories, griefs, and small salvations—stories that reach toward one another… like a flickering flame that burns brighter toward the end.
It’s About Crime: The 5th Pinoy Indie Authors Collaboration
A collection of thrilling, gritty, and wildly original crime stories written by multiple voices, yet united by one mission: to entertain, shock, and keep you guessing.
These launches underscored one of Aklat Sining’s strongest messages: stories grow richer when told together.
More Than an Expo, A Shared Victory
For many participants, Aklat Sining was more than a public event—it was a moment of validation. It was a reminder that finishing a book, sharing art, meeting readers, and standing beside fellow creatives are all victories worth celebrating.
The second edition’s success affirmed what the first already proved: Aklat Sining is not a one-time event—it is a continuing movement.
Looking Ahead: Supporting Filipino Indie Creators
As Aklat Sining continues to grow, so does its mission—to nurture a culture that values Filipino creativity, storytelling, and collaboration.
