By day, Kalinao leads an unassuming life as a tour guide in Manila’s historic walled city, Intramuros, enchanting tourists with his deep knowledge of local legends and history. His charming demeanor and mesmerizing talent for music often leave visitors captivated, unaware that the same hands that strum the guitar also wield the power to protect their world from dark forces.
By night, Kalinao embraces his true calling as a guardian, using his kapre abilities of incredible speed, trickery with smoke, and supernatural strength to maintain the delicate balance between the human world and the spirit realm. Gifted in both human and mystical arts, Kalinao walks a fine line between two worlds, always aware of the immense responsibility that comes with his unique heritage.
However, Kalinao’s tranquil routine is abruptly disrupted when he hears the sounds of a fierce battle at the Baluarte de San Diego, one of his usual tour stops. Rushing to the scene, he finds Hiraya and Diwa, two brave young women, engaged in combat with an ethereal being gone rogue. The spirit’s release of a malevolent miasma threatens the lives of patients at Seamen’s Hospital within the walled city, thrusting Kalinao into the heart of a conflict far greater than any he’s faced before.
In the chaos, Diwa falls into a mysterious coma while attempting to subdue the spirit. Hiraya, desperate to save her sister, is thwarted by an unknown barrier that blocks her magic.
